Our motto is “if it’s good for the patient, it’s good for the practice.”
Meeting and exceeding patient expectations are key to making any practice successful. This is certainly true for contact lens patients. However, that can be challenging when prescriptions or lifestyle needs exceed the parameters of standard contact lenses.
When searching for a custom soft lens option to complement our already established standard and specialty offerings, we discovered Bausch + Lomb’s Revive™ Custom Soft Contact Lenses. Revive™ includes spherical, toric, multifocal and multifocal toric options with extended parameters. Each lens in the family has sphere powers ranging from +30.00 to -30.00 D and cylinder powers from -0.50 to -10.00 D. For those unique eye shapes, base curves range from 6.5 to 9.7 mm and diameters from 10.0 to 16.0 mm.
Forward-Thinking, Innovative Features
To treat patients in this extended range, Bausch + Lomb provides two forward-thinking, innovative features: Dual Elliptical Stabilization™ and Adaptive Tri-Zone Technology. Dual Elliptical Stabilization™ uses computer-designed technology to precisely control the shape and position of the lens ballast for rotation and stability. This is very helpful with higher-powered astigmatic lenses. Adaptive Tri-Zone Technology allows the prescriber to customize the center near add power from +0.50 to +3.00 D and near add zone size from 1.0 to 3.0 mm to accurately match the patient’s pupil size and working distance.
Revive™ offers straightforward empirical fitting without the need for another fitting set. This means—without the expense of a fitting set—this lens can be profitable with the first patient. All you need to fit this lens is the horizontal visible iris diameter (HVID) and updated refraction and keratometry readings. If you’re fitting a multifocal option, also measure pupil size and determine the dominant eye.
Revive™ provides efficiency when fitting custom soft contact lenses in our practice. We no longer have to wait weeks for diagnostic lenses. Revive™ lenses arrive in 7-10 days. The best part for our practice has been that prescribers with different levels of experience can successfully fit this lens.
Keep Patients in Your Practice
With Revive™, we can capture more contact lens fits without having to refer patients with special needs out from our office. Our custom prescriptions create loyalty and patients want our practice to order their lenses. We are fitting more patients who believed they were not contact lens candidates because they had been told there was not an option for them. We are now able to meet a wider range of patients’ visual needs.
In terms of pricing, our practice has chosen to fit Revive™ as a quarterly lens. We charge the patient for the first lens per eye. Then, once the prescription is finalized, we order three additional lenses per eye. Our patient cost works out to about the same cost as an annual supply of premium one-day lenses.
Plus, Bausch + Lomb has extended the 120-day EZ-Exchange™ program to the Revive™ family. You can make as many changes needed in a 120-day period. If it doesn’t work out, simply call and cancel the order and you will receive a credit.
To get started, practices will need a special account with the Bausch + Lomb Specialty Vision Products division, which is different than a regular Bausch + Lomb account number. We order our lenses with the help of expert consultants available from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. EST. Revive™ is made to your patient’s unique prescription and will be sent to you in 7-10 days.
