CLEI Education is presenting a free two-day online symposium, Nov. 20-21, to educate optometrists and ophthalmologists on all aspects of refractive surgery and keratoconus management. The symposium will provide 12 hours of COPE and six hours of CME-approved education.

Day one will be an optometry-focused six-part course on refractive surgery. It will cover the history of refractive surgery, the diagnostics necessary to evaluate candidates, ocular surface disease, preoperative workup, corneal and lens-based refractive procedures, postoperative care, long-term follow-up, options for patients with irregular corneas, presbyopia, myopia management and refractive surgery by stage in life.

Day two will be for the optometrist and ophthalmologist. All aspects of keratoconus management such as keratoconus etiology, incidence and prevalence, genetics, devices necessary to diagnose and monitor, corneal cross-linking, procedures for improving corneal curvature, specialty contact lens options and modern methods of corneal transplantation.
The program will be presented by Peter S. Hersh, MD, FACS; Steven A. Greenstein, MD; and John D. Gelles, OD, FIAOMC, FCLSA, FSLS, FBCLA.
