Linda Chous, OD, owner of The Glasses Menagerie in Minneapolis, welcomes the essential pediatric eyecare benefit as a positive development from health care reform. It provides great opportunities to increase medical model and vision therapy services, while building a family practice, she says.
ACTION POINTS
Grow your practice. Once kids are patients, they bring in the parents and grandparents.
Do more vision therapy. Eye exams for kids help you to identify amblyopia, strabismus earlier in life.
Expand medical services. Work with local pediatricians, develop referral networks.
