Over the past nine years, Women In Optometry has celebrated the 62 winners of the annual Theia Awards of Excellence.
This year, for the 10th anniversary, the nominations will include one special award, Lifetime of Leadership.
Nominations are now open for this special award as well as the other categories.

The awards will be presented Tuesday, Oct. 7, during the American Academy of Optometry meeting in Boston, Massachusetts. More details to come.

Several of the award categories open for nominations are named for a trailblazing woman optometrist.
Theia Awards winners will be selected in the following categories:
- Lifetime of Leadership: This special award for the 10th anniversary honors a female optometrist who has made a lasting impact on the profession and has advanced the role of women in optometry.
- Leadership: Recognizes exceptional leadership within an organization, the community or through advocacy efforts.
- Mentoring: Honors individuals who actively guide and support others in practice management and professional development beyond optometry school.
- Innovation: Celebrates those who bring fresh ideas to the profession through outreach, marketing, practice models, inventions and more.
- Education: Recognizes educators who inspire and motivate students or peers through their teaching and mentorship.
- Young OD: Awarded to an optometrist within 10 years of graduation who demonstrates excellence in one or more of the above categories.
- Industry Influencer: Open to both female ODs and non-ODs who are shaping the future of optometry through their work in industry or professional affiliations.
- Business: Recognizes a doctor who displays outstanding business acumen and success in practice.
