Moving to a New Location Drives New Patient Visits

May 18, 2016

Laurie Sorrenson, OD, FAAO, of Lakeline Vision Source in Cedar Park, Texas, found that moving to a new location was a practice builder from the start. Each month, new patient visits exceed forecasts, and she credits the excitement of great design in a larger space, a good location, and a solid community connection in this Austin suburb with providing outstanding ROI.

SET A REALISTIC TIMETABLE. Growth may be slow when moving to a new location, especially if another OD moved into your old location. In evaluating ROI, give it a year.

FORECAST AGGRESSIVELY. Once you gain traction in a new location, new patients can more than double. Set a goal–and extend that goal once you reach it. Lakeline Vision Source sees more than 200 new patients each month, way up from the number at the old location.

ADD PERSONNEL TO MEET NEEDS. With many more new patient visits, the practice added an OD to meet demand and further growth.

SHOW OFF YOUR NEW OFFICE. Visitors to the Lakeline Vision Source web site are invited to take a virtual tour of the new facility, which features contemporary design and a local feeling.
