This month, Bausch + Lomb Corp. announced the Canadian launch of Soothe® Antibiotic Drops, an over-the-counter treatment for external bacterial infections of the eye and ear, such as bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye) and otitis externa (swimmer’s ear)*.
“There is growing demand for effective options that address bacterial infections in both the eye and ear,” said John Ferris, president, Consumer, Bausch + Lomb. “Soothe Antibiotic Drops provide Canadians a convenient, two-in-one option that addresses these common patient needs without requiring a prescription.”
Bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye) is an infection of the conjunctiva, the thin membrane covering the white of the eye and inner eyelid, causing redness, irritation, discharge and spreading easily through direct or indirect contact. External ear infections, commonly caused by bacteria, occur in the outer ear canal and result in pain, swelling, redness and discharge, often triggered by moisture buildup, making them especially common among swimmers.
Soothe Antibiotic Drops are specially formulated to target the bacteria responsible for these infections. Approved for use by adults and children† 6 and older, the drops come in a 10 mL easy-squeeze bottle. Soothe Antibiotic Drops are available at most Canadian retailers for an average manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $20.99.
