Barti Software today announced the launch of Automated Medical Insurance Eligibility Verification, a new feature that automatically checks a patient’s medical insurance coverage, copay, and deductible ahead of their appointment, without staff having to log into a payer portal.
Automated Insurance Eligibility Verification is a Barti feature that checks a patient’s medical insurance coverage in advance of a scheduled visit and surfaces the results, including active coverage status, copay, deductible and plan details, directly on the patient’s profile.

Practices that accept medical insurance are required to verify a patient’s eligibility before their visit. Today, that typically means a staff member manually logging into a payer’s website or clearinghouse portal for every patient, a process that takes five to 15 minutes per patient. For a provider seeing 15 patients a day, that adds up to more than an hour, and often several hours, of manual verification work daily. According to the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), roughly 20 to 25% of all claim denials stem from front-end registration or eligibility errors, a category automated eligibility verification is built to address directly.
HOW IT WORKS
Barti automatically checks eligibility for upcoming appointments a few days in advance. Each morning, the system runs eligibility checks for the coming days’ appointments and returns a clear worklist for staff: which patients are verified and ready to be seen, and which need attention, along with the specific reason (for example, a coverage termination or a payer connection issue).
Because eligibility checking lives inside the same platform as scheduling, billing and claims rather than a separate portal or vendor, it’s one more example of what unifying a practice’s systems into a single platform makes possible. Staff don’t have to leave Barti, log into a payer website or reconcile results across tools. The check happens automatically, in the background, and the answer shows up right where staff are already working.
“Practices lose real revenue to eligibility problems they don’t find out about until after a claim is denied,” said Colton Calandrella, CEO and co-founder of Barti. “Automated Insurance Eligibility Verification catches those problems days before the appointment, when staff still have time to fix them.”
AVAILABILITY
Automated Insurance Eligibility Verification is available now to Barti Premium and Barti Copilot customers as part of Barti’s clearinghouse and claims bundle.
