Use Dashboard Management to Monitor Performance

IDENTIFY KEY METRICS. Every week track metrics such as number of comprehensive exams performed, financial collections and how you’re optical is doing.

ASSIGN METRICS TO TRACK. Ask each staff member to track a specific metric, and then share how that metric is doing in a weekly staff meeting.

SHOW AND DISCUSS DASHBOARD. Maintain a dashboard of key metrics, and concentrate on the most impactful ones during staff meetings.

CULTIVATE COLLABORATIVE CULTURE. Emphasize that everyone needs to work together to improve the metrics reviewed, and that everyone is in it together.

DISCUSS WHAT IS & ISN’T WORKING. If you don’t point out what which areas of the practice are doing well, and which could use improvement, staff will just assume everything is always doing fine, and won’t make needed changes.

USE COLLECTIVE SUCCESS AS MOTIVATOR. Inspire employees to better performance by emphasizing the overall success of the practice, and award bonuses to the whole staff when the practice hits goal levels of production.

USE SOFTWARE TO TRACK METRICS. Use systems like The Edge and Glimpse to automate tracking of your practice’s key metrics.

PRESENT PERFORMANCE DASHBOARD. Each week share key metrics from the previous week, and establish goals for the coming week.

IDENTIFY MOST ENGAGED EMPLOYEES. Give the greatest responsibilities to the staff members who are most engaged in their jobs.

KEEP STAFF FROM GETTING DISCOURAGED. Let all departments know, regardless of how successful or challenging their numbers have been, that it’s possible for each department to be successful.
