Set a Plan to Make New Technology Work in Your Practice

Nov. 30, 2016

Incorporating new technology into your practice is made easier by educating staff of the new technology’s advantages, and then creating a short script to use when discussing it with patients.

EDUCATE STAFF. Explain to staff why you’re adding the new technology, whether new diagnostic instrument, new lens treatment or new contact lens. Point out the benefits to patients, and how the new technology will improve their care and lives.

CREATE A SCRIPT. Let patients know why the new instrument they are being tested on, or the new product, such as a new contact lens, is beneficial to them in a script that is short, but effective. Use everyday language, rather than technical jargon.

REHEARSE & REFINE YOUR MESSAGE. Rather than winging it as you go, practice with your staff what you will say to patients, and how you will adapt the script you created so that it works for each patient you see.
