New Partnership to Help ODs with HIPAA Requirements

Nov. 29, 2017

IDOC and Abyde have agreed to a “formal partnership” under which the technology company will provide solutions and education related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) for IDOC’s 3,000-plus member doctors, according to a joint announcement.

Steve Vargo, OD, MBA, who is IDOC’s optometric practice management consultant, said the reason the alliance chose to partner with Abyde is “because Abyde has created a very simple solution to the complex requirements of HIPAA compliance, something most doctors view as a distraction from patient care and practice management.”

The new partnership will provide IDOC members with direct access to Abyde’s team of HIPAA experts as well as expose members to exclusive pricing for Abyde’s revolutionary HIPAA solution, according to the announcement.

Abyde, which launched in January, “guides doctors and staff through all aspects of HIPAA compliance, including the risk analysis, drafting and updating policies and procedures, and interactive HIPAA training,” according to the announcement. Abyde also noted that its automated risk analysis meets Meaningful Use, MACRA and MIPS’s Protecting Electronic Health Information core measures.

Founded in 1999 by Mark Feder, OD, IDOC is a privately held consulting firm and optometric alliance. Tampa, Fla.-based Abyde is a tech company dedicated to revolutionizing HIPAA compliance for medical professionals
