New EHR Tool To Aid MIPS Participation

June 21, 2017

First Insight has introduced a new embedded Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) calculator to measure indicators and automated reporting within MaximEyes EHR. The new tool is designed to help optometrists and ophthalmologists comply with MACRA reporting requirements.

MIPS is the new Quality Payment Program (QPP) that combines Meaningful Use (MU), Value-Based Payment Modifier (VBM) and Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) into one program for Medicare Eligible Clinicians (ECs).

MIPS calculates a Composite Performance Score (CPS) based on four performance categories: Quality, ACI, CPIA and Cost. Because each category has different weights per reporting year, MIPS calculators within MaximEyes EHR, as well as detailed training documentation and personalized training with the company’s Incentive Program experts, is intended to assist Eligible Clinicians to determine their total MIPS Composite Performance Score.

Key characteristics of the new MIPS tool:
• Advancing Care Information (ACI) Measures and Points Calculator
• Composite Performance Score (CPS) Report and Estimation Calculator
• Improvement Activities and Clinical Practice Improvement Activities (CPIA) Calculator
• Quality Points Calculator
• Automated reporting for quality measures, ACI measures, CPIA and CPS
