AOA ASCO Eye Care Workforce Study

Randolph Brooks, OD, FAAO, presents topline findings from the 2014 AOA ASCO Eye Care Workforce Study. Key points: There is an adequate supply of optometrists to meet the growing need for eyecare. In fact, ODs, on average, report a 32 percent excess capacity and say they could see an additional 19.8 patients each week. “There are more demands being put upon eyecare,” Dr. Brooks notes. “With health care reform, more children have vision care, and adults are gaining coverage for medical eyecare. Further, a growing and aging population is increasing the demand for eyecare, which optometrists are well positioned to deliver.” Click HERE to learn more about the AOA ASCO Eye Care Workforce Study: Supply and Demand Projections, and to purchase a copy of the report.
